Karen Nielsen

WE61 - The Total WomanWE61 - The Total WomanWE61 - The Total Woman

Karen Nielsen is an author and speaker on suicide prevention and mental illness awareness. She is also a mentor to women of all ages, helping them to find their self-worth and cultivate the ability to overcome adversities in their lives. She spent 30 years in the corporate world and after her husband’s death, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of writing and becoming an author. Karen has spent 15 years speaking, facilitating women’s church events and she has well over 20 years of mentoring experience. She loves to encourage, uplift and inspire. Karen is a self-proclaimed social butterfly. She loves nothing more than to be surrounded by friends and family, glass in hand, retelling the horrors of hormones, high school and raising kids. Growing up in the Northwest has given Karen a profound appreciation of the outdoors, and has camping on her top five things to do on a summer weekend. She has one adult son who is the light of her life, three sisters, amazing family, and a fabulous network of friends. Since she raised a boy, she’s a fan of action movies, loves all the Avenger, Transformers, DC and Marvel comic movies, but what girl doesn’t like chick flicks? She’s an avid collector of Victorian era antiques and hopes to one day fill a hutch cabinet with all the miniature shoes, couches, lamps, the old-fashioned pump perfume bottles, and other things she’s collected over the years, which are currently housed in a box. Somewhere. Karen spent her early childhood in Portland, Oregon and moved to Boise, Idaho when she was 11. She has lived in many other cities and states but has always considered Boise her home. She loves to sing, dance, read, enjoys good food and drink, and wholeheartedly believes that laughter is the best form of medicine. She currently resides in her favorite city on earth, Boise, Idaho.
