Sonja is currently a Sales Engineer at Paraccel where she sells Database
software. She has been with Paraccel for almost a year. She has been very
successful at Paraccel surviving in a male dominated culture. Sonja also serves
on the BIWA SIG Board.
On March 7, 2009 Sonja was crowned Mrs. Corporate America 2009. More details
can be found at www.mrscorporateamerica.com. During her year reign, Sonja
spoke to many students, young women and corporate women talking about Women in
Technology. She has also done many appearances on talk shows and radio shows
across the country. Recently she was the headline interview in the spring issue
of "Exceptional People Magazine". Now she continues to spread her message as
Ms. California American Spirit.
Sonja's is focused on helping women and students succeed in the corporate
world. Sonja works with the following organizations: PBWC, OWL, NAFE, WITI,
WIF, ASK - Women in Technology (where she founded this nationwide group),
Counseling at the University of Minnesota and University of St. Thomas. Sonja
also tutors young kids in math and the sciences. She also was a big sister.
Sonja is currently in the process of completing her doctorate at Argosy
University where her topic of focus is Women in Technology and Business.
Recently she wrote a chapter called "Why Men Succeed" that appeared in the book
"How to Break a Glass Ceiling Without a Hammer".
Sonja moved to Los Angeles seven years ago from Minnesota and has been actively
working in non-union, feature, independent, student films, television programs
and national commercials. Many of her projects can be found at Blockbuster and
are in distribution. She also currently has her own production company and she
co-hosting her own radio show called "First Word Radio". Sonja is currently
working on a new television show for HBO based on the book "California Girl
Chronicles", written by Michelle Gamble Risley.
In her spare time, Sonja is a competitive tennis player and is a marathon
runner. Sonja's goal is to do a marathon in every state with her best friend
and so far has completed ten states.
Sonja's goal is to make a true difference in the world and have a positive
impact on others. She wants to inspire others to become who they want to be and
to go for their dreams. She is passionate about this chapter, "Creating the
Life of your Dreams". Sonja firmly believes if you work hard that dreams can
come true.
